Imagination

 

L'imagination, en tant qu'agent créateur de formes et de représentations d'un réel vécu, a pour fonction de nous faire connaître la région de l'Être, au-delà des sens et de l'abstrait. L'imagination active donne accès à l'inter-monde entre les plans sensible et intelligible, c'est-à-dire au lieu même de leur interaction. Sans cet inter-monde, l'articulation entre sensible et intelligible est définitivement bloquée et sa disparition entraîne une catastrophe pour l'esprit, qui, dépourvu de ce lieu paradoxal comme agent actif de la conscience, perd sa capacité de se manifester concrètement. Il reste alors un agent passif et se manifeste exclusivement selon un de ces deux modes, soit sensible, soit abstrait. Le monde imaginal, siège de l'imagination active, apparaît comme le monde où se réalisent les correspondances et les symboles ; c'est le siège du centre du monde qui relie les différents niveaux du réel.

Imagination, as a creative agent of forms and representations of lived reality, serves to reveal to us the realm of Being, beyond the senses and the abstract. Active imagination grants access to the inter-world between the sensible and the intelligible planes—that is, the very place of their interaction. Without this inter-world, the connection between the sensible and the intelligible is irreparably severed, and its disappearance leads to a catastrophe for the spirit, which, deprived of this paradoxical place as an active agent of consciousness, loses its ability to manifest concretely. It then remains a passive agent, expressing itself solely through one of the two modes—either sensory or abstract. The imaginal world, the seat of active imagination, appears as the realm where correspondences and symbols are realized; it is the seat of the center of the world that links the different levels of reality.
